EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado ” A woman stabbed her husband in the shoulder twice after the couple argued about driving drunk home from an Avon bar, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.

Margaret Pegg Barry, 47, of Eagle-Vail, stabbed her husband in the kitchen of the couple’s Eagle-Vail home on St. Patrick’s Day, the report says. The husband’s name is being withheld.

Barry and her husband had been drinking Monday evening at Finnegan’s Wake, and her husband told her not to drive them home while they were in the parking lot outside the bar, the report says. He ended up letting her drive him anyway, the report says.

Barry’s husband said his wife later stabbed him, but he did not see her holding anything and no weapon was found, the report says. He was taken to Vail Valley Medical Center, got stitches and was released, the report says.

Barry left the home in an SUV before sheriff’s deputies arrived, but was later arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and felony second-degree assault, authorities said.

Barry posted a $1,500 bond and was released from Eagle County jail Tuesday.

Barry’s husband said he did not know how to reach Barry. Terry O’Connor, who the husband said was Barry’s defense attorney, did not return a message left after business hours Thursday evening.
