Coroner identifies body found in Eagle River

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – Eagle County Coroner Kara Bettis has identified the body found in the Eagle River on Saturday as 40-year-old Stephanie Brantley, of Gypsum.

The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest. The manner of death is still under investigation. Brantley was spotted by a fisherman on the river behind the Gypsum Wastewater Treatment Facility. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Gypsum Fire Protection District and Eagle County Ambulance District recovered her body.
