Cost of Vail Valley water, sewer service to increase
VAIL, Colorado ” Monthly rates for sewer and water service within the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District and Upper Eagle Regional Water Authority service areas will increase with January customer bills.
Monthly fees pay for the operating costs of providing water and sewer services on an annual basis.
Monthly fees will increase by 3 percent for sewer service. Fees for water service will increase by 12 percent in Vail or by 8 percent within the Regional Water Authority. The authority’s service area includes the town of Avon and the Arrowhead, Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek, Berry Creek, Cordillera, Eagle-Vail and Edwards metropolitan districts.
Customers will see an average increase of 70 cents on their monthly sewer bills. The increase in water rates averages $2.56 per month for Vail water customers, while Regional Water Authority customers will see an average increase of $2.24 per month. Increases during the summer months will likely be higher for customers that use additional water for landscaping.
“This is the first monthly rate increase within the Regional Water Authority since June 2004,” said District and Authority General Manger Dennis Gelvin. “The rates are structured to charge customers equitably. The Vail water use rates remain lower than many Front Range communities.”
