County looks to guide redevelopment in Eagle-Vail
Eagle-Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE-VAIL, Colorado ” The county is planning now in hopes of guiding any redevelopment of the U.S Highway 6 commercial strip in Eagle-Vail.
The area is zoned for commercial use now, but officials are embarking on a process to come up with a master plan for the area ” a document that would more specifically define what things should be considered in any redevelopment of the area.
“We’re very early in the planning process,” said Scot Hunn, a planner with the county.
A lot of people have a stake in any redevelopment of the stretch of road and the county plans to talk with as many of them as possible, said Hunn.
“We want to be inclusive and reach out to folks,” Hunn said. “We’re not in any hurry, but we’re trying to get ahead of the curve.”
The county is in the process of drafting a request for qualifications for companies to help with the process.
A master plan would likely include things like the types of commercial property that would be best for the area, suggested styles of buildings, emphasizing improvement of pedestrian access along the strip and the idea of taking advantage of the river corridor, officials said.
“We’re undertaking a public process and want to get everyone around the table to talk about a vision for the area and what they want it to function like in the future,” Hunn said.
The document would give prospective developers an idea of what the community wants to see along the road, Hunn said.
