Couple sought after dead child found in empty Colo. home

MONUMENT, Colo. – Colorado authorities are asking law enforcement nationwide to be alert for a couple who used to live in a Monument town house where construction workers found a dead child in a basement crawl space.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s office issued the alert this week and say they want to question the couple in the death of the child, a girl who was between 7 and 10 years old. Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Lari Sevene says Monique Lynch and Hanif Sims previously lived in the town house but moved in early 2009.

Sevene says both have warrants from New Jersey and that Lynch is wanted on a drug-related probation violation and Sims on a weapons violation.

Workers remodeling the vacant home north of Colorado Springs found the child’s body. It’s unclear how she died.
