Couple sought in child’s death in Colorado said to be homeless

MONUMENT, Colo. – A couple sought in the case of a Monument girl found dead in a crawlspace are said to be homeless.

The head of a Los Angeles homeless shelter tells the Gazette Hanif Sims and Monique Lynch stayed there. Previously the couple rented a Monument townhome where a decomposing body was discovered in a crawlspace May 14. Authorities say the body belonged to a girl between 7 and 10 years old.

Investigators say the body is badly decomposed; they aren’t sure how long she’s been dead or what killed her.

Lynch and Sims left the townhouse in early 2009. The head of the Union Rescue Mission says the couple stayed at his shelter but have since disappeared.

Andy Bales says the couple have two children living with relatives.
