Crash closes I-70 at canyon

VAIL ” A box truck carrying seafood caused eastbound I-70 through Glenwood Canyon to be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Both lanes of traffic are open now.

A single-car crash closed both lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 at the Shoshone power plant at Glenwood Canyon, mile marker 122.5, Monday morning around 8:30 a.m.

Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman Nancy Shanks provided details about the Monday morning accident.

The box truck was going westbound and jumped the guardrail, falling to the eastbound lane on its top, Shanks said. There are apparently no injuries as a result of the crash, Shanks said.

I-70 remains snowpacked and icy in spots, Shanks said. Shanks said she didn’t know the cause of the crash.
