Ute Creek Fire northeast of Wolcott contained, structures deemed safe as crews remain on scene

A wildland fire that sparked late Saturday morning was contained by firefighters later in the afternoon, though crews will remain on scene for the “next few days,” according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

An EC Alert sent at approximately noon on Saturday alerted residents of a wildland fire that ignited in the area of 955 Ute Creek Road in Wolcott, the address of Vail Honeywagon’s service site. A 12:30 p.m. Facebook post from Eagle County Sheriff’s Office noted that one structure was threatened. Multiple fire trucks and a helicopter were on-scene in response to the incident.

The sheriff’s office added that Landfill Road is now open, though the landfill will be closed for the weekend.
