Police seek suspects in Edwards burglary
EDWARDS — Police are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Homestead area of Edwards last week.
On Sept. 29, at about 5:30 p.m., the Vail Public Safety Communications Center received report of a burglary that occurred on Castle Peak Lane in Edwards.
When deputies with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene, they spoke with the residents of the home. The residents reported that when they arrived home they found the door leading from the garage into the house wide open. They also reported to deputies that there were two broken windows in the front of the house.
Inside the residence, there were several drawers and closets that had been ransacked. The refrigerator and freezer in the kitchen had also been opened and disturbed. The sliding glass door leading to the backyard was also left wide open. The victims reported that the only items that appeared to be missing from the residence were jewelry from a jewelry box.
Neighbors in the area reported that they saw two unknown males near the residence during the time frame of the burglary. The first male was seen running out the back door of the residence and toward Homestead Drive at approximately 9:30 a.m. This male is described as white with short, dark hair and below-average height. He was wearing an orange shirt and had a blue and black backpack on. The second male was seen on the front porch of the victims’ home shortly after 11 a.m. This suspect is described as white in his 20s or 30s, standing approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a slender build. He had light colored hair. He was wearing a blue hat and a blue vest.
