CU no longer offering credit for work on student newspaper
BOULDER, Colo. ” Students working at the University of Colorado’s Campus Press will no longer receive credit for working there after publication of a satirical column saying Asians “hate us all.”
University officials are also examining whether the February column by student Max Karson violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Before the column, School of Journalism and Mass Communication said it was exploring ways to revamp its relationship with the independent Campus Press.
Campus Chancellor Bud Peterson says the school will continue to support student-journalists by providing work space, a professional adviser and a “modest operating budget.”
