CU proposes ban on student parking on campus
Associated Press
BOULDER, Colo. – University of Colorado leaders are proposing a ban on student parking on the campus in Boulder.
CU’s Environmental Center Director Dave Newport says about 75 percent of students already walk, bike, take the bus or use other modes of transportation to get to campus.
Environmental and university leaders are proposing that campus parking be limited to faculty and staff members, or a small number of students. The Camera newspaper says that could cost the school up to $1.2 million a year in revenue from student parking permits it now sells.
CU is working to reduce campus energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
