CU string quartet to play Crystal Grotto at Beaver Creek

BEAVER CREEK – The string quartet from the University of Colorado will perform at Beaver Creek Mountain’s Crystal Grotto on Sunday.
The Crystal Grotto features a variety of instruments hand carved from ice, including a guitar, percussion and xylophone, Sunday’s string performance will feature two violins, a viola and cello.
The Crystal Grotto is located mid-mountain at the top of the Centennial Express Lift (Chair 6) and performances take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, through April 4. There also are concerts on select Fridays. Tickets are $10 per performance (cash only) and can be purchased at the Information Kiosk located near the Beaver Creek ice rink until 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.
If additional tickets are still available for any of the weekend concerts, they will be sold at the Ice Bar located at the Crystal Grotto on the days of the shows. Signs near the base of the Centennial Express Lift will indicate availability. The Saturday children’s performances at 3 p.m. are complimentary for kids 12 and under each week.
Guests are required to have a valid lift ticket or ski pass to attend performances at the Crystal Grotto. Foot pass lift tickets are required for non-skiing guests, and these individuals should go to the Beaver Creek Ticket Office with a valid ID to purchase foot passes. Coffee, hot chocolate, water and sodas can be purchased outside of the Grotto.
