Daughter faces father in Garfield County lawsuit
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” A former Garfield County jail employee who alleges she was sexually assaulted and harassed at work has filed a lawsuit pitting her against her father.
Lisa Martin’s lawsuit, filed May 22, names Sheriff Lou Vallario, jail commander Scott Dawson and county commissioners. Martin’s father is County Commissioner John Martin.
John Martin said he did not view the lawsuit any differently than if it had been filed by any other employee. “There’s no winners,” he said.
Lisa Martin worked as an inmate services technician from July 2003 to May 2007, the lawsuit said.
She alleges supervisors and commanders, including Dawson, sexually assaulted her, when she was on and off duty. Her lawsuit said she was asked to falsify employment and budget documents at work and was subjected to retaliation when she refused, then was fired for complaining about “illegal and discriminatory practices.” She is seeking unspecified damages.
Dawson and Vallario did not return calls by the Post Independent seeking comment.
Vallario has rejected Martin’s claims as a frivolous lawsuit brought by a disgruntled terminated employee.
