December driest in 28 years

AVON -December 2004 in Avon was the driest since 1976. Just 4 inches of snow fell during the month and that, combined with a little rain last week, left the area with just .54 of an inch of moisture. The average snowfall in December, according to temperature and precipitation readings taken by weather watcher Frank Doll, is 18 inches.The coldest day was Dec. 1 with a -11 reading and the warmest, 46, was Dec. 11. The average temperatures, 34.6 for the high and 13.3 for the low were just about average, Doll said.
