Deep Creek overlook to close for a month

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

DOTSERO, Colorado – Beginning Monday, the Forest Service will close the Deep Creek Overlook on the Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District so the safety fence at the site can be replaced.-

Visitors can expect the Deep Creek Overlook to remain closed until Nov. 13, unless the fence replacement project is completed ahead of schedule.- Access to the Deep Creek Overlook will be restricted with the closure of Forest Service Road 600.3A at the intersection with the Coffee Pot Road.- Due to steep terrain and drop-offs surrounding the overlook, all areas adjacent to the worksite will be closed to all public use to ensure the safety of visitors and the work crew.-

“The Deep Creek Overlook provides remarkable views of Deep Creek Canyon, 2300 feet below as well as the grassland mesas, and red rock cliffs that define the Flat Tops Wilderness,” said Deputy District Ranger Matt McCombs. “The new fence being installed will enhance both the aesthetics and safety of this treasured site.”-
