Defendant in Boulder slaying appears in court
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) ” A man linked by DNA tests to a decade-old rape and beating death now faces multiple charges following an appearance in a Boulder court.
Diego Olmos-Alcalde faces charges of murder, sexual assault, kidnapping and violating parole in the death of 23-year-old Susannah Chase.
She was a University of Colorado student when she was beaten to death with a baseball bat in December 1997.
Chase was from Stamford, Connecticut.
The 38-year-old Olmos-Alcalde appeared in court Wednesday morning wearing an orange and white-striped prison uniform. He was handcuffed, with the cuffs attached to a chain around his waist.
He waived his right to a preliminary hearing within 30 days.
That hearing has been scheduled for April 23rd and 24th.
