BOULDER, Colorado – A 22-year-old Longmont man accused of fatally shooting Todd Walker, of Edwards, in Boulder last month told a detective after the incident that he never tried to rob Walker or his female friend, according to testimony heard during a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Instead, Kevin McGregor told Boulder police Detective Kurt Foster that he got into a confrontation with Walker after whistling at a woman who Walker was walking with near 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue early March 18, Foster testified during the hearing.

Public defender Julia Lee said McGregor told Foster that he was just acting like a “drunken (expletive)” and was hitting on the woman, identified as University of Colorado student Elizabeth Roach, and this upset Walker.
