Deli – Best of Vail Valley 2020
1. Belmont Deli
2. Boardroom Market and Deli
3. Avon Bakery & Deli
The Belmont Deli in Edwards is a locals’ place. Before March and that rotten pandemic, the place was on the way to being a deli and bar.
General Manager Ian Doucette said the Belmont had opened a bar area just days before the COVID-19 shutdowns. But people still come.
“I’d say 75% of our business is locals,” Doucette said. “It’s the locals who’ve saved us.”
A lot of those locals are people who work in the valley’s restaurant business. They know a good thing when they taste it.
The locals and visitors who come in for breakfast, lunch and dinner are looking for good food that’s reasonably priced. That’s what the Belmont delivers, Doucette said.
The deli also does a brisk takeout business.
When you go, Doucette recommends the Belmont’s Cuban sandwich. The Palace Malice — the Belmont’s take on a hot turkey club — is the top seller. But try the Cuban. You can’t go wrong.
