Delivery task force formed in Vail

VAIL ” The first meeting of a group that will work on how goods are delivered to Vail businesses and restaurants is Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Vail Transportation Center conference room, which is next to the information center.

The meeting is open to anyone interested in attending and will include a light lunch.

The group will make recommendations to the Vail Town Council on how 25 loading docks now under construction will be used. The docks are part of the Front Door project at the base of Vail Mountain, the One Willow Bridge Road building on East Meadow Drive, the Vail Plaza Hotel and Club on the Frontage Road and the Solaris complex being built where the Crossroads building once stood.

Members of the group include Mayor Rod Slifer, Councilman Farrow Hitt, Kaye Ferry of the Vail Chamber and Business Association, Michael Robinson of the Vail Valley Partnership, resident Bill Hanlon, Troy Goldenberg of Troy’s Ski Shop, Billy Shoff of Gorsuch, Matt Morgan of Sweet Basil restaurant and Michael Staughton of Los Amigos and Russell’s restaurants.

The Colorado Motor Carriers Association has assisted in recruiting six delivery companies to serve on the group, including Bob Dubois of Budweiser, Jim Armstrong of the U.S. Postal Service, Michael Hinkley, Coors and representatives from Shamrock Foods, Sysco Denver and HVH Transportation.
