Democrats host candidate lunch Wednesday
Vail, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – Eagle County Democrats will host a discussion with candidates Jon Stavney and Jill Ryan at noon Wednesday at e-town in Edwards.
“Revenues to the county are poised to decline again next year as valuations continue to decline,” said Stavney, who is seeking a second term.
Stavney led the county through the past wave of reductions, downsizing county government by 30 percent in his first term, reducing 75 positions, he said in a press release.
“Tough decisions still remain but it is exciting to see County employees doing more with less,” he said.
Ryan, who is seeking the open seat to be vacated by Peter Runyon, said she agrees.
“Property tax valuations just came out and they continue to decline,” she said.
Having served as public health director and managed her own company since, Ryan said, “a real understanding of county services and structures will be required to help determine priorities and potential efficiencies.”
Stavney and Ryan will talk with residents over the lunch hour, and will also be talking about senior services, wildfire mitigation, growth and economic development efforts.
