Democrats must register by Monday for primary
The last day for voters to register to participate in the Aug. 10 Democratic primary is next Monday. The Democratic primary will determine whether Mike Miles or Ken Salazar will be the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate seat now held by outgoing Republican Sen. Ben Nighthorse-Campbell. Pete Coors and Bob Schaffer are challenging for the Republican bid. “It has been said that the Colorado U.S. Senate race is the second-most important race in the country this year, after the presidency,” says Debbie Marquez, a chairwoman of the Eagle County Democratic Party.Residents can register at the Eagle County Clerk’s offices in Avon, Eagle or El Jebel, Voter registration forms can be downloaded from http://www.eagle-county.com/clerk/elections.cfm and download a voter registration form. Absentee ballot applications can be filled out at the same time that you register.
