Dems detail religious events
DENVER, Colorado – Pastor and Democratic National Convention Committee CEO Leah Daughtry says the Democratic National Convention will demonstrate that party members are people of faith.
The DNCC on Saturday announced details of faith events surrounding the convention Aug. 25-28 in Denver.
Social activist Sister Helen Prejean and Islamic Society of North America President Ingrid Mattson are among those to be featured at an unprecedented interfaith service Aug. 24 to open the gathering.
During the convention, the Faith Caucus will meet in a separate venue on topics including how an Obama administration would engage people of faith.
The DNCC says a Republican pastor from Florida is among those chosen to give opening and closing prayers during the DNC.
