Dems for Colo. Senate announce hires, endorsements

DENVER – The Democratic race for the U.S. Senate is picking up.

Senator Michael Bennet is headed to Confluence Park in Denver on Saturday to announce an endorsement from an environmental group.

His rival for the nomination, former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, said Friday he was hiring four new consultants. They include Joe Trippi, who used Internet fundraising to propel Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign.

Bennet was appointed to the seat last year after Ken Salazar left it to become Interior Secretary.
