Denton takes on new role
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado – Craig Denton, one of Ascent Sotheby’s International Realty’s most successful brokers and part of the opening team in 2009, was recently named vice president/managing broker for the firm by owners Tye Stockton, Steve Virostek and James Fangmeyer.
A licensed broker for more than 34 years, Denton’s influence in the Vail Valley’s real estate market spans from positions with Vail Associates Real Estate as well as opening and running his own real estate company, Christopher Denton Real Estate, for 16 years. His broker accolades include many high-end residential sales valued at more than $10 million, with 2012 on track to be one of his best years ever.
“We are very fortunate to be able to appoint an Ascent Sotheby’s International Realty team member of Craig’s caliber to the position of Vice President/Managing Broker,” Stockton said. “His 34 years of Vail real estate experience will prove to be invaluable to our brokers through training, mentoring and contract negotiations. His leadership will be a welcome addition to an already talented pool of employees.”
A Vail resident since 1975, Denton grew up in a variety of locales, ranging from Long Beach, Calif. to Cuba, Spain and Germany before returning to the U.S. and Walnut Creek, Calif. An accomplished junior competitive ski racer, Denton started college at the University of Utah with a ski team scholarship. An injury sidelined his skiing career and a return to California for rehab reconnected him with his high school instructor/coach who was at U.C.-Berkeley. The coach encouraged Denton to reignite his competitive and professional tennis interests. He played for U.C.-Berkeley through spring 1975, where he holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration. Post-graduation, he became a professional tennis player and continued playing in Colorado and teaching in Vail through the summer of 1978.
“I’m honored and value the friendship and trust that Tye, James and Steve have in me to lead the company,” Denton said. “I greatly appreciate their combined confidence that I can take Ascent Sotheby’s International Realty forward with our shared vision of being the top and most respected real estate firm in this valley.”
Outside of the real estate, ski and tennis arenas, Denton spent 16 years helping coach and serving as president of the Vail Junior Hockey Association. He and his wife, Nancy, have four adult children who all live and work in the Vail Valley.
