Denver, CO Colorado
DENVER, Colorado ” Denver International Airport travelers may be paying a toll along Pena Boulevard under a plan city officials are discussing to help pay for the FasTracks project.
Officials at the Metro Mayors Caucus retreat say Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper discussed the toll as a way to help cover a $2 billion funding shortfall for the project.
The Regional Transportation District says it will lose $1 billion from the federal government if it doesn’t complete the airport train and the Gold Line by 2017. Officials say the DIA FasTracks line is expected to cost $1.7 billion.
The airport told The Denver Post that about 100,000 vehicles travel in an out of DIA using Pena Boulevard every day.
