Denver architect dies near Aspen

ASPEN, Colorado ” The 67-year-old man who died Thursday from a heart attack cross-country skiing south of Aspen is renowned Denver architect Peter Dominick, the Pitkin County Sheriff’s office said Friday.

“We believe he had a heart attack,” said Randal Johnson, one of the principals in the Denver architectural firm 4240 Architecture.

Johnson said he is meeting with Dominick’s family later Friday.



Aspen ambulance personnel responded to Ashcroft Ski Touring outside of Aspen after receiving a call at about 3:15 p.m. Thursday, said the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office. Bystanders and ski patrol members performed CPR on the man.

Dominick was transported to Aspen Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
