Denver: Climate change focus of Western forum
DENVER, Colorado ” Western political, business and environmental leaders are meeting in Denver to discuss regional initiatives on climate change and how the policies will affect the West.
Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter will give the keynote speech Thursday at the conference. The Climate Registry, a national registry for greenhouse gas emissions, is hosting the forum that runs through Friday.
Leaders in the West will give overviews of their plans to deal with climate change and explore how they mesh with changes occurring across the country and world.
The nonprofit Climate Registry is an effort by states, Canadian provinces and tribal governments to set consistent standards to calculate, verify and report greenhouse gas emissions.
