BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado ” The Backstage Theatre will present “Free Gas: Chicken Lips Gives it to America,” a high-octane comedy event this weekend.

“Free Gas” is an evening of sketches, improv comedy, game shows, and song parodies that pokes fun at politics, current events, and the American way of life. Some audience participation is integral since free gas cards are given away at every performance.

Chicken Lips is Denver’s original and acclaimed improv-based theater, now in its 26th year. The group first played at the Bonfils Theatre, then for a multi-year run at Basin’s Up/Comedy Works in LoDo. The group, which has featured dozens of Denver’s finest improvisers and actors, is based out of the Avenue Theatre. Although Chicken Lips has been entertaining audiences for more than 25 years, this is the first time they’ve ever intentionally given their audiences gas ” free or otherwise.

“Free Gas” stars LuAnn Buckstein, Dave Johnson and Bob Wells, along with guest performers to be announced at showtime.

Performances are today at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Backstage Theatre, located at 121 S. Ridge St., in Breckenridge. Tickets are $15. The performance is recommended for adults only.
