Denver: Man killed walking across I-25
DENVER, Colorado One person is dead after an early-morning auto-pedestrian accident on Interstate 25 in Denver.
Police say a man was attempting to cross the interstate on foot about 5 a.m. Monday when a Chevrolet Avalanche struck him, killing him instantly.
Authorities aren’t sure why he was on the roadway, near northbound I-25 and 6th Avenue.
The man’s identity hasn’t been released.
Police shut down northbound I-25 at the accident site, causing major backups during morning rush hour as traffic was rerouted.
Officers were still working that collision when a crash involving at least 11 vehicles occurred at the same location in the southbound lanes.
All lanes in both directions reopened about 8 a.m., but long backups remained.
