Denver nears heat record
DENVER, Colorado ” Denver is on its way to breaking a 134-year-old record of 90-plus degrees 18 days in a row.
The high temperature Tuesday was expected to be 94, which would be the 17th consecutive day over 90. The forecast the next six days calls for above 90 as the high.
If the forecasts pan out, Denver will shatter the record of 18 straight days at 90-plus degrees set in 1874. The record was tied in 1901.
Meteorologists say a high-pressure system is keeping cold air away and a drier system is moving in from the north.
