Denver police shoot man threatening suicide
August 2, 2010
DENVER, Colorado – Prosecutors in Denver will review a fatal police shooting over the weekend.
Police were called to an apartment complex Sunday afternoon on a report of a suicidal man. Denver police say they tried to diffuse the situation but the unidentified man pointed a gun at four officers and the officers fired.
He died later at the hospital.
Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the man was despondent and threatened suicide after being contacted by the officers.
The shooting is the fifth involving a Denver police officer this year. It will be reviewed by the Denver district attorney’s office, the normal procedure for officer-involved shootings.
