Denver to host youth winter sports summit
Vail, CO Colorado
DENVER, Colorado – With an estimated 20,000 attendees expected at the Convention Center in Denver for the SnowSports Industries America trade show at the end of the month, a movement has emerged to engage more youth in winter sports.
The trade show highlights some of the latest trends and innovations in the winter sports industry. A number of attendees, representing manufacturers, retailers, resorts and nonprofits, have joined forces with government agencies and politicians to encourage kids to get involved in winter sports.
On Jan. 30, member organizations of the burgeoning Recreation Outdoor Initiative movement, sponsored SnowSports Industries America, will host the first National Youth Summit. Members of the Recreation Outdoor Initiative currently have 50,000 in winter sports each season. The focus will be to double the effort so that one million youth are involved in winter sports by 2020.
Denver students will attend the summit to hear speakers and then spend the rest of day skiing and snowboarding at Copper Mountain and Keystone Resort. Speakers for the summit include former and current heads of SnowSports Industries America and National Ski Areas Association.
In addition to raising awareness on the importance of getting kids into winter sports, the Youth Summit serves as a celebratory capstone for 32 states that celebrated January as “Learn a Snow Sport Month.”
The summit begins at 8:30 a.m., Jan. 30. For more information, contact Arn Menconi at 970-390-4844 or email@example.com.
