Denver will allow voters to check box at polls

DENVER, Colorado ” Another Colorado county is giving more flexibility to voters who failed to check a box on their registration forms.

Denver officials say 1,400 people who haven’t corrected their forms can fix the problem at the polls on Election Day. They’ll have to show identification but will be allowed to cast regular ballots.

Voters are permitted to provide part of their Social Security Number on vote registration forms if they don’t have a driver’s license or another state-issued ID. They also have to check a box affirming that they don’t have a state ID.

Secretary of State Mike Coffman has told counties that people who don’t check the box shouldn’t be registered unless they fix the problem. But clerks in Jefferson and Larimer counties say those voters can vote as long as they bring ID to the polls.
