Denver woman injured in Vail Pass rollover

VAIL PASS, Colorado – A 23-year-old Denver woman was seriously hurt Tuesday morning after her SUV rolled over on Vail Pass.

Erin Kilbury was driving a tan Toyota 4-runner and was driving eastbound on Interstate 70 near milepost 184 at 7:53 a.m. when she became distracted and drove off of the right side of the roadway, police said.

Kilbury attempted to regain control of the vehicle as it rotated counterclockwise, but was unsuccessful, police said. The vehicle rolled three-quarters times onto its driver side and skidded to a stop, blocking both eastbound lanes of I-70 for about 45 minutes, according to police.

Kilbury was extricated from the overturned vehicle and later transported to Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail with serious injuries.

Alcohol and or drugs are not considered contributing factors, but inattentiveness and distractions are, according to the State Patrol.
