Deputy: Colo. school shooting suspect smelled of alcohol
GOLDEN, Colo. – A man accused of shooting and wounding two Colorado students on school grounds has been ordered by a judge to stand trial for attempted first-degree murder and other charges.
The suspect, 32-year-old Bruco (bruce-oh) Strong Eagle Eastwood, was in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing. He’s accused of wounding two eighth-graders outside Deer Creek Middle School in south suburban Denver on Feb. 23. The students are recovering.
Eastwood is being held under $1 million bail. He hasn’t entered a plea. His attorneys say they’re investigating the role that mental illness might have played in the case
Lead investigator Richard Gove testified Wednesday that Eastwood said he woke up the day of the shooting feeling angry, violent and “transformed upon.”
