Design at Altitude: Market finds from all over the country
Design at Altitude
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of traveling and finding some amazing items for the store. We’re happy to be home but even more excited to start unwrapping all of our newfound favorites.
We started our travels in Dallas, headed north to Las Vegas, east to the ski show in Denver and finally to the Big Apple. Four shows, two weeks and tons of inspiration. Here are just a few of our favorites that will help spice up your home for spring and beyond. We are believers in classic decor — that which is fun, relevant and special.
Here’s what’s going to make your home shine in the coming months:
PILLOWS, THROWS and lighting
For the first time, we visited the Las Vegas market: three buildings, two vast pavilions and 46 floors of stunning home design, including furnishings, accessories and lifestyle.
We scoured vendors and easily could have spent a few more days at this massive market. We can’t wait to head back. Until then, though, a few of our favorites are luxury, luscious throws and pillows in nubby fabrics that are full of texture. Outdoor fabrics are just as plush and inviting as the indoor options; we are definitely planning ahead for the summer season.
Lighting is eye-catching and a decor element by itself. We’re loving two-toned and patina’d metals and bold, colorful table lamps. New lighting options can change the look and feel of a space.
PREPARING FOR SUMMER
We’re already picturing a patio with a colorful outdoor rug and a low picnic table set with sparkling glasses, colorful napkins and various platters in gold tones. Brass accents, bowls brimming with delectable food, candlesticks, ceramics and even decorative vine orbs complete this interesting tabletop, and pillows in various hues give friends and family a comfortable place to sit while they enjoy the outdoor dinning room. Cheese platters and the accompanying knives complete the spread.
Biking is a way of life where we live, so we could not resist colorful, playful Martone bikes. Shiny indeed, and they come with a sturdy basket, hand brakes, kickstand and a bell. You’ll feel like a kid again! With two-speed automatic shifting, these are perfect for riding to summer concerts with a fully stocked basket of gourmet nibbles, a few bubbles and unbreakable wine glasses. Your friends will have bike envy for sure.
NEW YORK INSPIRATION
New York is always an adventure: the market, the flower district, lunch at the Bergdorf Goodman restaurant— we love the city. The flower district was overwhelming in a good way and helped us make a decision that we can’t wait to share. So many of our customers love silk flowers and their lux looks, so we’re creating our own flower arrangements — something unique for every home.
A touch of Provence works in any home, and we’ve found looks from France that can make mountain homes a wondrous retreat. We found tables with unique styling and boldly designed legs, sofas in rich tones and bold wall hangings.
Once your home is updated with fresh looks, spoil yourself — at least that’s our thought! We fell in love with purses that are handcrafted in San Francisco; best of all, the company gives back to help create change in the world we all long for. The purses have distinctive shapes and large, circular, gold-toned handles. The handles complement the sparkly costume jewelry we fell in love with — beads and leather, both bold and subtle. Speaking of beads and leather, we adore bohemian and intricately designed moccasins.
Every year we love where our jobs take us and the adventure and thrill of finding home accents and gifts for everyone in our lives. Stop by so we can show you all of our most fabulous finds.
