Developers to present Lionshead plans

VAIL ” The two contenders to redevelop the Lionshead parking garage will present their plans next weel to the Vail Town Council and the community.

East West Partners of Avon and Open Hospitality Partners/Hillwood Capital of Dallas will each have an hour and a half to present their proposals to the Town Council at its Tuesday meeting. Two more meetings for the community will happen Wednesday at Donovan Pavilion.

Both proposals will replace the 1,150 public parking spots in the aging structure and add hundreds more spaces. Both also include condos, timeshares, a bus hub and stores.

The Open/Hillwood proposal includes a W Hotel and a St. Regis Hotel and has a performing arts theater. The East West proposal includes a Hyatt On hotel and has a convention center/events center, a “wellness center,” and a nonprofit center.

Both proposal will are supposed to cost about $500 million.

The council is looking to make a decision whether to proceed with one of the developers by December.
