Dickey Betts postpones Aug. 25 show to March

BEAVER CREEK ” Former Allman Brothers front man Dickey Betts and his band, Great Southern, have postponed their scheduled Aug. 25 Vilar Center appearance for a date in late March 2007.

Betts will be returning to the studio this fall, and has pushed back the end of his summer tour as a result. However, a confirmation of a rescheduled date for the last few days of March is expected shortly.

Ticket holders for the cancelled Aug. 25 show can visit the box office for a full refund or an exchange for the late March appearance. Original seating will be honored.

Other performers heading to the Vilar Center this winter are multi-Grammy-winning Celtic rock icons The Chieftains on Jan. 14, followed by the Grammy-award-winning piano stylings of jazz great George Winston on Jan. 30. Legendary contemporary jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, joined by jazz pianist Brad Mehldau, hits the stage March 18, while the troupe that popularized street dance, STOMP, brings its unique, toe tapping performance to the Beaver Creek stage April 3 and 4.

The entire winter season will be announced later this month, and tickets go on sale Nov. 2006. For more information, call the Vilar Center Box Office at 845-TIXS (8497). The Vilar Center for the Arts is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.
