Dillon explores medical marijuana options
Vail, CO Colorado
DILLON, Colorado – Town council and staff in Dillon will explore options to bar medical marijuana dispensaries within town limits at a work session today. The council tentatively said no to marijuana dispensaries within the town at its last council meeting on Nov. 3, citing concerns about abuse, need and lack of state regulations as reasons for not moving forward on approving regulations. The work session starts today at 4 p.m. in the Dillon Town Hall.
“We don’t have any definitive direction to determine what they’d like to do moving forward,” said town manager Devin Granbery. “The council’s made it clear that a majority of them do not support the idea of medical marijuana dispensaries in Dillon. Council will now work with the town attorney on how they want to address that issue.”
Granbery said council and staff will likely look at several options today that could “result in some type of ordinance.”
“They won’t be taking any action on it (today),” he said.
The Town of Dillon currently has a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries to expire on Feb. 13.
Any action taken to officially bar dispensaries, or to come up with a new set of regulations, will take place before that date.
