Dirty Rocky Mountain rock in West Vail
Dyrty Byrds, a Denver-based band, will perform at the Sandbar in West Vail tonight. Drawing from southern roots, too many mentors to list, and a desire for Southern-influenced Rocky Mountain rock ‘n’ roll, Dyrty Byrds play energetic rock music with a good mix of originals, and cover songs from rockers like Neil Young, Charlie Daniels and Allen Toussaint.Sam Holt plays guitar with the Atlanta, Georgia band Outformation and also filled in on lead guitar for touring giants Widespread Panic during the summer of 2006. Tori Pater is a Colorado legend who plays guitar and sings in Polytoxic and puts together some of the Front Ranges best annual shows like The Last Waltz Revisited and numerous benefits. Eric Martinez plays lead guitar in the Athens, Georgia rock band Bloodkin but lives in Denver where he plays regularly as a solo musician, and as a duo with Tori. Mike “Spanky” McCluer has been a main stay in the Colorado music scene for years playing in bands like the Crispy Critters, Two Ton Moxie, Double Parked, and the Mountain Jam to name a few. Mike Goletz is the only Colorado native in the band and has played with the likes of Electric Sidedish, Stanky Pockets and Harmonious Junk.During the summer of 2008 Holt was spending more time in Colorado and sitting in with Martinez and Pater at their weekly acoustic gig at the Moontime Bar & Grill in Denver. In an effort to step it up a bit they brought in Goletz on drums and McCluer on bass to round out the electric band. Since then they have played shows all over Denver.Tonight’s show begins at 10 p.m. and tickets are $7.
