DNC: Women Democrats celebrate their growing power

COLORADO CONVENTION CENTER – The DNC Women’s Caucus kicked off with the crowd shaking tambourines and cheering Sen. Hillary Clinton as a political trailblazer along with Michelle Obama’s Monday night keynote speech.

“Wasn’t Michelle Obama incredible?” Caucus Chair Mame Reiley said as women roared approval.

Reiley praised Hillary Clinton for her groundbreaking presidential bid this year.



When a woman is some day sworn in as President — “and it will happen – she will know it was Hillary Clinton who paved the way to the White House,” Reiley said,

When future president Barack Obama signs into law universal health care, Reiley said, “we will know it was Hillary Clinton who…put health care on the national agenda ” as First Lady during the early 1990s.

But there was also praise for Sen. Barack Obama, the man who bested Clinton in the race for the Democratic nomination.

The women whooped as Reiley urged them to rally and “elect Barack Obama as the next president of the United States.”

The kept cheering during a video montage showing women Democratic leaders, loudest for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Michelle Obama – and her husband Barack.
