Dollar edges up against the euro

FRANKFURT, Germany – The dollar edged up against the euro Wednesday, recovering ground it lost the previous day following a report of dropping consumer confidence in the United States.The 12-nation euro bought $1.2072 in late New York trading, down slightly from $1.2096 late Tuesday in New York, but stronger than it has been in four days.News that the U.S. consumer confidence Index dropped in October to the lowest level in two years had driven the dollar down.In other currencies, the British pound slipped against the dollar, buying $1.7739 from $1.7844 in New York. The dollar was up against the Japanese currency, buying 115.84 yen compared to 114.88 yen on Tuesday. The dollar rose to 1.2816 Swiss francs from 1.2579, and fell to 1.1709 Canadian dollars from 1.1767.Vail, Colorado
