VAIL – American painter Don Sahli, teacher of the Russian School of Impressionism and the last apprentice to the famous Russian colorist Sergei Bongart, is the artist in residence at Vail Fine Art Gallery this weekend.Sahli will spend the weekend painting plein air around Vail, stopping spontaneously to capture local scenes on canvas. Each evening he will present these paintings in the gallery, and set up his “studio” in Vail Fine Art Gallery, where he will use the plein air paintings and other studies to paint a larger work. Collectors can stop by to hear firsthand the stories behind each painting in this special collection.
