Donovan parking blackout dates start Thursday in Vail

VAIL, Colorado ” Skier parking will be prohibited at Donovan Park in Vail, Colorado when special events are held there, and the first black out day is Thursday.

The lot on South Frontage Road was opened for free skier parking on Jan. 7. Parking also is restricted on the following days: Jan. 24, 29; Feb. 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 26, 27 and 28; Mar. 10, 21, 27 and 30; April 2, 5, 15, 17 and 18. Additional blackout dates are possible, and violators will be ticketed.

When available, the 70-plus spaces at Donovan Park are open to the public on a first-come, first served basis from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.



The parking spaces nearly doubles the amount of available free parking on weekdays. Spaces are also available at the old Wendy’s site in West Vail, and an additional 180 spaces are available along the North Frontage Road in West Vail Friday through Sunday for the remainder of the season and on Presidents’ Day.

Free parking on the South Frontage Road is allowed only after the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures have been filled. For more information, call the town’s parking hotline at 970-479-2104.
