Dotsero warehouse burns; no one hurt
DOTSERO, Colorado – Fighting a warehouse fire at Dotsero Friday morning took three of the valley’s fire departments.
The fire at the warehouse on Cotton Lane – west of the mobile home park and just east of the Colorado River – was reported just past 10 a.m. The fire was under control just before 1 p.m. No one was injured and no other buildings were damaged.
The Gypsum Fire Department responded to the first alarm, and the first crew found the building engulfed in flames when they arrived. When a second alarm sounded, people and trucks from Greater Eagle Fire Protection District and Eagle River Fire Protection District came to the scene. In all, 34 people were at the scene, including deputies from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and a crew from the Western Eagle County Ambulance District.
Justin Kirkland of the Gypsum Fire Department said fire crews were hampered because there are no hydrants in the area, which required fire crews to shuttle tanker trucks into the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
