Daily Staff Report

ASPEN ” The fourth annual Downtown Aspen Art Festival is set for Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Wagner Park in downtown Aspen. Admission is free.

At the festival, visitors will find paintings, life-size sculptures, jewelry, photography, ceramics and more. This outdoor event will feature art for every taste and budget, with prices ranging from $20 to $20,000. More than $15 million in art will be on display, and visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artists behind the work and hear first-hand what inspired them to create their pieces.

Artists will travel from across the nation ” from Louisiana to Michigan, Washington to California and New York to Florida ” to exhibit. Many of Colorado artists will be exhibiting at the show, as well including Leo Atkinson (stone sculptures) from Steamboat Springs; Erin Biddle (glass) from Golden; and David Castle (watercolors) from Denver.

Joining the visiting artists will be 10 student artists from Aspen’s Red Brick Center for the Arts who will be selected to exhibit their work at the show. The center is a former school that houses and promotes regional artists, as well as provides art and cultural programs to the community.

“We are pleased to align with the Red Brick Center for the Arts to give student artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their work among some of the best artists in the country,” said Howard Alan, producer of the event. “I am amazed at the wealth of talent displayed by the youth of this area.”
