Dozens to lie down in Denver for Columbine event
DENVER, Colorado ” Dozens of people are expected at the state Capitol for a ceremonial “lie-down” aimed at bringing attention to gun control on the anniversary of the Columbine school shootings.
Thirteen people representing those killed at Columbine will lie down on the lawn at the west steps of the Capitol during a moment of silence. The 13 people will be circled by 23 others who will represent the people injured.
The names of the victims will be read during the moment of silence. Speakers at the event will include anti-gun activist Tom Mauser, whose son Danny Mauser was one of the students killed at Columbine.
The event at 11 a.m. Monday is sponsored by Colorado Ceasefire, a gun control group.
