Drinking driver suspected in Grand Junction liquor store crash
GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – Authorities say an SUV driver who crashed into a Grand Junction liquor store and drove away had probably been drinking.
The store was closed at the time of the crash Sunday night and no one was inside.
Police say a suspect was found about two miles away. His name wasn’t immediately available and it’s not clear whether he was injured or what charges he might face.
Police Sgt. William Baker says investigators suspect the driver had been drinking.
The SUV plowed about 12 feet into the building before stopping. Baker estimated the damage at $25,000 to merchandise and $15,000 to the building.
Grand Junction is 190 miles west of Denver.
