AVON, Colorado –A policeman pulled a 22-year-old man over for driving 44 mph in a 25 mph zone on Avon Road March 18.

The officer suspected the man had been drinking because of an alcoholic odor in the car. The man said he was coming from work, where he was a bartender. He said he’d had three beers. He gave the officer his registration and proof of insurance, and then simply stared back at the officer. The officer asked to see his driver’s license and the man said people at another bar had taken it.

The officer found out through dispatch that the man had been stopped by Avon police and charged with DUI only hours before. That time, the man had chosen to take a breath test with Avon police and was released. This time, the man submitted to a blood test for the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

He was issued a summons for DUI and speeding and taken to a friend’s house.
