Driver injured in rainy I-70 wreck
Vail, CO Colorado
EDWARDS – A Monument woman is in stable condition but unresponsive after a car crash caused by heavy rains and standing water Thursday evening on I-70.
Rachel Meyer, 23, was trying to pull off on the right side of the road near the Edwards exit when another driver hit her car from behind, said Trooper Chris Grimsley.
The other driver, who is charged with careless driving and causing bodily injury, said his Dodge Durango was hydroplaning and he lost control, Grimsley said. Both cars were heading west on the interstate.
Meyer was transported to Denver General Hospital with severe head injuries.
